To The Girl Who is Depleted, Empty, and Burnt Out:

Friends: This is a letter to all of you who feel exhausted, depleted, burnt out, and empty:

I love you. I want you to know that. I know, I don’t know you, but you were created in the precious image of my Creator, so therefore, I love you.

I don’t know where you’re at in life. Maybe it’s high school, or college, or grad school. Maybe you’re a young working girl. Maybe you just got married and are enjoying being a newly wed. Maybe you have cute, crazy kiddos running around. Maybe, you have kids in college or grandkids.

Whatever you do, and wherever you are… you probably have so much going on.

You probably have so much on your plate.

You probably are dealing with so much.

Maybe, there’s some great things in your life right now, but also, maybe there are some hard things.

Hear this, in my sweet and soft voice:

You are so loved. Just for who you are.

You are so tough for doing all that you do.

You are so brave for facing the things you do every day.

Girlfriend, you are killin’ it. I know, sometimes it probably feels like your life is falling apart, like it’s a big mess, like it’s spiraling downward, or like it’s just work work work.

But girl, you have so much going on, and you’re still here.

You’re still fighting.

I bet God is SO pleased with your hard work.

He sees everything you do. He sees those little things that you go the extra mile in. He sees you.

And I can picture Him looking down at you, when you’re workin’ away, going, “Yeah.. that’s my little fighter.”

Or, maybe something a little more “biblical sounding.” 😉

Yeah, life is tough. But so are you.

Good news, though: The Kingdom is coming.

There’s going to be a better day when we taste juicer fruits, where work will be enjoyable, and when our outfits are always on point. (Those new, glorious bodies will be smokin’.)

Seriously though, fix your heart on the hope of a better day. Where we will look straight in the face of our Creator. Where we will hear His beautiful voice calling out to us. Where we will run and not grow weary. Where there will be new colors, and streets of pure gold. It’s a reality.

In the meantime, my sweet friend: God has given us so much of Himself in this life. Enjoy Him. Enjoy His blessings: physical and spiritual.

Yes, you should take a little nap, because God gives us rest.

Yes, you should buy yourself coffee and go think about what God is doing in your life. (And a donut.)

Yes, you should take a long walk and admire God’s creation.

Yes, you should read that book, because God has given us such creativity.

God can be so glorified in us taking time for ourselves. I think He knows that we need that.

I mean, Jesus took naps. Jesus intentionally went to isolated places. That’s our very God. How wonderful is it that God loves us enough to encourage us to rest.

Girlfriend, God is so pleased with all of your hard work.

You are doing so well. You are so loved.

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus… and He will restore every empty part of your precious heart.

I hope you feel encouraged.

I hope you feel revitalized.

I hope you know how tough God has made you.

Put your hands to the heavens and dance. Blast that music. Wear your cutest outfit. Go pour yourself out. Fall in love with this beautiful life God has given you. And before you know it, we will be Home.

With much, much love. Now, go eat that donut. –Melissa
