Do you need to be reminded of who you are, my dear sister?
You are redeemed.
You are now God’s precious daughter.
You are the inheritor of the riches of His Kingdom.
You are holy and blameless.
You are the recipient of God’s beautiful love songs.
You are the eternal scars on His precious hands.
You are the thoughts racing through your Creator’s head.
You are so much more than you even realize. Than you will ever know.
You are loved by your Savior.
You are cherished by your Creator.
You are chosen by your God.
You are declared royalty by your King.
You are called child by your Father.
You are protected by your Warrior.
You are led by your Lord.
You are thought of by your Friend.
Sometimes it’s hard to realize. To understand. To comprehend, to fathom. To remember.
But my dear sister, look around. Do you see the brokenness? The pain? The sickness? The evil? The sin? The rebellion?
This isn’t your home. This isn’t where you were supposed to be. This isn’t what we were made for.
Our home is Heaven. We are supposed to be in a Kingdom of Light and Love. We were made for intimate, unveiled friendship, face to face with our Father.
So my friend, don’t take this life too seriously. Don’t get too stressed out. Don’t get too upset. Don’t cling to this world.
Because you are so much more than this world.
Because you will soon be home, in the Kingdom where you were created to be.
Because this life is a vapor, a mere moment in comparison to your forever home.
Loosen your grip on your car. Loosen your grip on your clothes, your makeup, your hair. Loosen your grip on your grades. Loosen your grip on your job title. Loosen your grip on your trendy life. Loosen you grip on your goals, on your dreams. Loosen your grip on your comfort, on your pleasure, on your life.
Stretch your arm a little further to the riches of Heaven. You won’t touch them yet, but keep reaching. For soon, the rich, precious inheritance and reward that your King is preparing will gently fall right in between your fingers.
You wouldn’t want to be holding the fading trinkets of this world then, would you?
It’s okay that your life isn’t exactly put together. It’s okay that your life isn’t glimmering in the light of this sun. It’s okay that your life isn’t glamorous, or comfortable, or even very pleasurable.
Because that glamour, that peaceful comfort, that pleasure is reserved for your life in Heaven.
Jesus told us to do the work of His Kingdom here. And then, once it comes, we will live abundantly and pleasurably.
Your life is different. It is supposed to be. Yes, my dear friend, your life isn’t supposed to be glamorous. It’s okay to be exhausted, to be raw and gritty, to be dirty, to be emotional, to be real.
Because that’s how Jesus lived.
“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”
Colossians 3:1-4 NLT
In the meantime, set your sights on the hope of the Heavenly Kingdom, where our hearts are restored, where the fruit is juicer, where the colors are new, where we dance with new passion, and when we lock eyes with our Beloved Creator.
It’s coming soon. Take heart. Just a little while longer, and then we will know Him.
Just a little while longer, and we will be in our real, forever home, where we can gently and excitedly settle in.
With much, much love. And my heart yearning for those everlasting heavenly riches. –Melissa
