Do you need to be reminded of who you are?

Do you need to be reminded of who you are, my dear sister?

You are redeemed.

You are now God’s precious daughter.

You are the inheritor of the riches of His Kingdom.

You are holy and blameless.

You are the recipient of God’s beautiful love songs.

You are the eternal scars on His precious hands.

You are the thoughts racing through your Creator’s head.

You are so much more than you even realize. Than you will ever know.

You are loved by your Savior.

You are cherished by your Creator.

You are chosen by your God.

You are declared royalty by your King.

You are called child by your Father.

You are protected by your Warrior.

You are led by your Lord.

You are thought of by your Friend.

Sometimes it’s hard to realize. To understand. To comprehend, to fathom. To remember.

But my dear sister, look around. Do you see the brokenness? The pain? The sickness? The evil? The sin? The rebellion?

This isn’t your home. This isn’t where you were supposed to be. This isn’t what we were made for.

Our home is Heaven. We are supposed to be in a Kingdom of Light and Love. We were made for intimate, unveiled friendship, face to face with our Father.

So my friend, don’t take this life too seriously. Don’t get too stressed out. Don’t get too upset. Don’t cling to this world.

Because you are so much more than this world.

Because you will soon be home, in the Kingdom where you were created to be.

Because this life is a vapor, a mere moment in comparison to your forever home.

Loosen your grip on your car. Loosen your grip on your clothes, your makeup, your hair. Loosen your grip on your grades. Loosen your grip on your job title. Loosen your grip on your trendy life. Loosen you grip on your goals, on your dreams. Loosen your grip on your comfort, on your pleasure, on your life.

Stretch your arm a little further to the riches of Heaven. You won’t touch them yet, but keep reaching. For soon, the rich, precious inheritance and reward that your King is preparing will gently fall right in between your fingers.

You wouldn’t want to be holding the fading trinkets of this world then, would you?

It’s okay that your life isn’t exactly put together. It’s okay that your life isn’t glimmering in the light of this sun. It’s okay that your life isn’t glamorous, or comfortable, or even very pleasurable.

Because that glamour, that peaceful comfort, that pleasure is reserved for your life in Heaven.

Jesus told us to do the work of His Kingdom here. And then, once it comes, we will live abundantly and pleasurably.

Your life is different. It is supposed to be. Yes, my dear friend, your life isn’t supposed to be glamorous. It’s okay to be exhausted, to be raw and gritty, to be dirty, to be emotional, to be real.

Because that’s how Jesus lived.

“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”

Colossians 3:1-4 NLT

In the meantime, set your sights on the hope of the Heavenly Kingdom, where our hearts are restored, where the fruit is juicer, where the colors are new, where we dance with new passion, and when we lock eyes with our Beloved Creator.

It’s coming soon. Take heart. Just a little while longer, and then we will know Him.

Just a little while longer, and we will be in our real, forever home, where we can gently and excitedly settle in.

With much, much love. And my heart yearning for those everlasting heavenly riches.  –Melissa

  2. This post has inspired me as I struggle with uncertainty. I do not know how I am going to get where I am going, but I have faith that God will provide. Some call my decisions irresponsible, but I know my God is strong enough to help me and that He will lead me where I need to go.

  4. Melissa, theses words are written so beautifully! From being in such an emotional state in this season of my life, my heart feels soothed by this clear picture of Jesus’s love! My favorite part: “It’s okay to be exhausted, to be raw and gritty, to be dirty, to be emotional, to be real. Because that’s how Jesus lived.” It’s so easy to forget that and try to strive for perfection.

I am SO glad that the Lord used this post to touch your heart. He is so faithful to show is love and clarity and peace in just the right moments. Yes, my friend, be real- and by being real, as we see in Jesus, that often means being emotional, dirty, and , well, tired. He is with you as your strength through it all. Much love to you, my dear friend!

  5. I came upon this the other day when I was getting down on myself and losing sight of what God really thinks of me and how I am created with a purpose and for a reason. This changed my worldview from that day and i now no longer see myself the way I did before. Thank you so much. This blog will have forever changed my life!!💓

WOW! This made me so very happy! Heck yes- you are created and designed to be a Kingdom worker. And then, in that Kingdom that you are personally building with Christ and your friends….. there will be so much joy and glory and sweetness!
This life is so so so short. Keep your heart fixed on your sweet Jesus who is abundantly more than all of this life.
      AMEN! MUCH LOVE my sister!

  6. I have been learning lately that I have trust issues with God. I doubt His goodness; I doubt His love; I doubt the identity that He has spoken over me. I don’t know if you know the answer, but how do I simply let go and trust what He says about me? How do I stop striving? How do I simply let go and rest in who He has created me to be? And how can He still love me even when I continue doubt what He has so clearly spoken over me in the past? I just want to be secure and stable and consistent in His love, but I don’t know how. I am constantly afraid that I will fail at whatever He tells me to do and that He will grow angry or disappointed in me. I don’t know Him; I don’t know how to know Him. I feel as if I’ve known Him in the past and let go of that trust, and now I can’t get it back. I am afraid of Him. I don’t know what unconditional love is. I want to love Him but I feel like I can’t. Please pray for me.

    1. My friend! I love you and I love your openness and honesty. You have a great heart.
I think that God wants to show you who He is. With a close friend, you know them and what they’re like. God wants you to know Him like a close friend.
When you do, you will know what He’s like. You will know that He’s kind, passionate, determined, caring, strong, righteous. You will know that He adores you, for you are just like Him. He created you in His image. When you know Him like a friend, you can trust that your relationship with Him is so special. You will know that He is with you always. You will know that He is the truest thing we’ve ever grasped.
Sister, don’t dwell on how you feel. Just drop everything, the good and the bad, the past and present, the feelings and emotions and doubts and beliefs….. drop them and just run to God for God.
He wants to know you like a friend. He wants you to know Him like a friend.
No obligations. No ulterior motives. No hidden intentions.
Just friends. Just love. Just grace.

He will never hide Himself from you. He is proud of you.
You are His strong daughter. His beautiful friend.

Much, much love for you sister!
